Escape door function / emergency exits and panic door locks
The following applies in principle: A door with escape door function can always be opened via the door opener in the
direction of escape, even the locked door.
Escape doors are equipped with
· Emergency exit locking pursuant to DIN EN 179
· Panic door locking pursuant to DIN EN 1125.
Slightly more stringent requirements apply for a panic door lock than for a fire exit door clock. Panic door locks are
visible externally in accordance with DIN EN 1125 with a panic grip bar or panic pressure bar (panic bar) across the
door leaf. Fire exit door locks in accordance with DIN EN 179 are equipped with a door opener.

Panic door lock
according to
The safety lock is available in principle in two versions: with B-function ("B-function (switching function)", page 31)
DIN EN 1125
or with E-function ("E-function (shift function)", page 31).

B-function (switching function)

The external door opener will be permanently coupled or decoupled for locks with B-function. Also the internal door
opener for special versions without escape door function.
The safety lock with escape door function always have the internal door opener (DIN EN 179) or the panic bar
(DIN EN 1125) coupled remains active), so that only the external door opener is permanently coupled or decoupled.
Both door openers (internal and external) are simultaneously and permanently coupled or decoupled with safety locks
without escape door function (special version).
The latch is automatically barred when closing the door. The door is locked again
("Self-locking", page 40).
Safety lock with emergency door function provides
· Certification for emergency exits according to DIN EN 179 or panic doors according to DIN EN 1125,
· split pressure nut / split square section,
· coupling and decoupling capable external door opener as mechanically via the locking cylinder actuation.
Safety lock without escape door security lock function (special version) provides
· Continuous pressure nut / continuous square section.
· Simultaneous coupling and decoupling capable external door opener as mechanically via the lock barrel actuation.
· Internal and external door openers can always be simultaneously coupled or decoupled due to the continuous
square section and the undivided pressure nut.

E-function (shift function)

The door is equipped with a shift fitting with the E-function (shift function). The locking cylinder is used for manual
unlocking from the outside with this function.
Actuating the locking cylinder with manually lock back the latch and unlock the lock latch. The door can be accessed.
The latch is automatically barred when closing the door. The door is locked again.
