Obstacles – A work site may have natural obstacles
(stump, buried stones) or man-made obstacles
(construction waste, power cords or hoses) that
will interfere with the compacting process. Check
the work area and remove all obstacles before compacting.
OPERATING THE TAMPING RAMMER
WARNING! Maintain a grip on the tool at all times when under
power, as it will move by itself when the throttle is open. The
tool may pose an injury risk to bystanders and the operator.
The tamping rammer's engine is started with the throttle lever
in the idle position.
Once the throttle lever is moved to the running position,
the base plate begins to vibrate. As the throttle lever is
opened further, the tamping speed increases in strength
and frequency.
To shut the tamping rammer down in an emergency, move
the throttle lever to idle and turn the engine switch to OFF
or STOP.
1.
Check the tamping rammer before use (see Maintenance
Chart - Daily Before Starting)
1.1 Check the gasoline engine before use per the separate
engine instruction manual.
2.
Position the throttle lever in idle.
3.
Start the gasoline engine per the engine manual. Allow to
warm up for several minutes.
4. Hold the handrail and move the throttle lever towards
the running position. The vibrator assembly will engage
and the tamping rammer will move forward.
5.
Retain hold of the handrail and guide the tool as it
compacts. Inclines may require a gentle pressure to
maintain forward momentum (see Compacting on
an Incline).
