Warnings
1.
To avoid injury, never insert fingers or tools into the yoke between the
actuator and valve when the air supply is connected.
2.
Do not insert fingers into the valve ports.
3.
The seal of the valve - especially the stem seal - must be checked daily, as
escaping fluid can be a health hazard. Particular attention should be given to
valves that are positioned so high that personnel can pass beneath them.
4.
The valve often contains caustic or corrosive agents such as sodium
hydroxide (NaOH), nitric acid (HNO
these substances, use gloves and protective goggles. If the substances come
into contact with the skin, rinse immediately with plenty of water. Consult a
doctor if necessary.
5.
To avoid injury, do not touch the valves during CIP cleaning or sterilization
with hot water or steam, or when there are products in the pipe that are so
hot that there is a risk of burns.
6.
The valve should not be cleaned with grinding or polishing agents. The valve
stem in particular must in no circumstances be cleaned with these agents.
7.
To clean the outside surface of the valve, use a weak solution of a suitable
cleaning agent. Consult your supplier of cleaning agents.
8.
Do not use a high-pressure cleaner to clean the outside surface of the valve,
as dirt may be forced into the product side of the valve and into the electrical
parts of the control unit if such a unit has been installed.
9.
Please note that in valves fitted with a drainage pipe, corrosive substances
may be discharged from the drainage pipe in certain situations.
10.
The valve may only be lubricated during servicing, and only with approved
lubricants.
11.
In valves with control units fitted, always switch off the power supply before
touching conducting parts. In certain circumstances even low voltages can be
harmful to some people.
12.
Necessary air pressure: min. 6 bars - max. 8 bars
Max. fluid pressure in the valve: 10 bars
Max. operating temperature: 120°C.
13.
On valves fitted with a drain pipe, the drain pipe outlet should be placed
where it is visible but where at the same time no drainage fluid can come into
contact with people.
14.
Never dismantle valves without ensuring that the pipe system is free of
pressure, drained of fluid and where applicable cleaned, and that the power
and air supplies have been disconnected.
15.
In case of valve design NC (spring-to-close), depressurize the shaft via the
pneumatic air connection before loosening the clamp connection between the
valve body and the valve insert.
16.
The welded actuator is under spring load, do not open it by force.
17.
The valve may only be installed, dismantled and reassembled by personnel
trained in the servicing of APV valves or by APV fitters. If necessary, contact
your nearest APV dealer.
