The device produces an electric voltage pulse to ignite the Thermit
pulse lies in a voltage range lower than 60 V. Nevertheless, misuse can cause
electrical shock.

Thermit
Welding is a safety-relevant activity. According to DIN EN 14730-2, every

operator must have successfully completed process-specific training at a welders
training centre accredited by the railway company, with the involvement of the
process provider. The operator must possess a „Certificate for Thermit
Rails" according to DIN EN 14730-2 point 4.1, and a „Qualification Card for Welding
Processes" according to DIN EN 14730-2 point 4.2.

» Be older than 18 years.
» Have a solid physical constitution and in full command of his/her
mental and physical faculties; capable of fast action.
» Be well rested and not under the influence of alcohol, drugs or
medications which may impair reaction time.
