4.5 OPERATING RAPID CLIMB
Procedure for self-rescue:
Secure the supporting cable (colour-coded rope end) to the fastening point. Attach the provided
carabiner to the chest eyelet of the harness so that you can look up to the free-wheel button and
the rope clamp integrated in the housing.
4.5.1 Ascent procedures:
Push both ratchet switch levers fully in and position the side free-wheel button on UP. Ensure
that the free-wheel button engages with a click and cannot release itself. Then direct the ratchets
upwards and ascend slowly with an alternating and uniform ratchet motion.
When the desired height is reached or if a pause is required, release the ratchets slowly until the
device supports the load independently.
NOTE:
In the case of an ascent with a load of more than 150 kg, both ratchets
must be activated simultaneously in order to avoid excessive torsion
on the axis.

4.5.2 Abseiling procedures:

If the ratchets are not used to ascend, the equipment can be used as a normal abseiling device.
Ensure that the ratchets (switch lever fully extended) and the free-wheel button (in DOWN position)
are deactivated and not engaged. Rope deflection (Figures N-Q) can be used to control the ascent
speed safely by hand.
