In addition to the motor protection switch, the motor must also be directly thermally
monitored by the temperature sensor (WSK) on the stator coil and in the lower bearing
support.
The motor with a cooling jacket made from INOX is cooled even when the motor rises
above the flow medium. The pumping liquid is piped through an annular passage between
the pump housing and the impeller and into the cooling jacket where it is used as the
cooling medium.
The water level may only be reduced to the upper edge of the pump chamber. Once this
minimum level is reached, a reliable level system should be used to switch the pump off as
a safety measure.
The motor without cooling jacket is submerged in the flow medium and will be cooled di-
rectly.

Failure to comply with these instructions invalidates the given explosion pro-
tection.
The motor is sealed against the pump chamber using 2 mechanical seals. In order to en-
sure the pump never runs dry and no unauthorised high temperatures are able to arise at
the sliding surfaces, the separating chamber between the mechanical seals is filled with a
collecting liquid, such as medical white oil or a water and glycol mixture or simply water
where the installation is frost-resistant.
The liquid is poured in when the pump is first assembled and must be topped up after all
assembly and repair work.

If this is not done, the temperature may exceed category T4!
Pumps with plastic hydraulic parts are only suitable for use in ex-areas using a "wet" in-
stallation.
Should pumps with plastic hydraulic parts be run dry, this will invalidate the
explosion protection.
Furthermore, a seal monitoring mechanism can be installed in the motor chamber (DI =
closer) to indicate any water entering into the motor.
The aforementioned safety installations are only guaranteed to function
ATTENTION!
correctly where they are used in conjuction with Wilo drain control
switching units (accessories). All other switchgear must be fitted with
monitoring unit SK 545 (accessories).
