2 Safety
Accepted safety precautions, in particular the applicable
precautions relating to the handling of current-carrying
devices, must be followed when operating the device.
Failure to observe these safety precautions may result in
personal injury or damage to the equipment.
It is understood that safety rules within individual
companies vary. If a conflict exists between the material
contained in these instructions and the rules of a
company using this system, the more stringent rules take
precedence.
2.1

Intended use

The devices of the SRP series are rotary drive and
guidance systems for exact rotation and positioning of
objects within an automated system.
The SRP series devices are designed for operation in
any position, with the following specifications are to be
complied with, in particular the maximum permissible
loads, transferable torques and load directions:

The objects to be moved must be firmly connected
with the rotor.
The devices of the SRP series must be used only
in commercial applications and in an industrial
environment.
The SRP series devices are intended for indoor use in
an environment that is free from humidity, dirt, oil and
lubricants.
The SRP series devices must be operated with a
suitable controller.
The devices of the SRP series are "partly completed
machinery" as defined by the Machinery Directive
2006/42/EC. The devices may be put into operation
only after it has been determined that the machine
into which the above-mentioned partly completed
machinery is to be installed complies with the
provisions of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
The integrated encoder and the motor must be
connected only to subsequent electronics that meet
the requirements of PELV supply (EN 50178).

Improper use

The SRP series devices are not intended for applications
in areas where a failure would result in considerable risks
for humans or the environment.
The following applications in particular are not permissible:
Use with load outside of the specifications can result
in damage and hazards from the breakage of parts
Outdoor use
For use in potentially explosive atmospheres
Use of the products of the SRP series devices as part
of a safety function

Personnel qualification

The personnel must have the following qualification for all
activities on the device.
Qualified personnel
The qualified personnel are trained by the operating
company to perform advanced operation and
parameterization. The qualified personnel have the
required technical training, knowledge and experience and
know the applicable regulations, and are thus capable of
performing the assigned work regarding the application
concerned and of proactively identifying and avoiding
potential risks.
Electrical specialist
The electrical specialist has the required technical
training, knowledge and experience and knows the
applicable standards and regulations, and is thus
capable of performing work on electrical systems and
of proactively identifying and avoiding potential risks.
Electrical specialists have been specially trained for the
environment they work in.
Electrical specialists must comply with the provisions of
the applicable legal regulations on accident prevention.
