Commissioning
Bus operation
In bus operation, the key is read in
within the framework of program‑
ming using the keypad integrated in
the lid of the EC 602‑... or via the
Vario bus using a PC.
Operation and procedures for bus
operation are described in the
programming instructions for the
EC 602‑...
Observe the address setting!
As up to 8 ELM units can be con‑
nected to an EC 602‑... in bus
operation, each ELM must be given
its own address. Under the lid at the
back next to the ribbon cable outlet
is a BCD rotary switch for setting
addresses 1 to 8.
The settings 0 and 9 and double
assignment of numbers will cause a
functional failure of the ELM. Where
several ELM units are in use, a dis‑
tance of at least 1 metre must be
maintained between the modules.
For removal of the ELM , see
under Service.
Stand alone operation
Used in stand‑alone operation, the
ELM manages a maximum of 9 users
(Electronic‑Key EK 601‑... and/or
Electronic‑Key Card EKC 601‑...)
plus a master card.
User keys EK 601‑.../user cards
EKC 601‑... must be read in at
the ELM units at which they are
required to trigger functions. This
reading process is initiated and ter‑
minated with the master card.
The master card is the card which is
read first into an ELM.
The procedure is described in the
following.
Remarks
• The individual user keys/cards must
be read in quickly, as an interruption
of more than 15 seconds automati‑
cally initiates a timeout, so inter‑
rupting the read‑in process.
• If the reading process has been
interrupted, it can be started again
at any time with the master card.
Procedure:
Master card read-in
After completion of the installation
and switching on the system, a red
LED lights up at the front of the
ELM. The ELM is ready for the read‑
in process. The master card is the
first card to be read in at an ELM.
• Hold the EK/EKC 601‑... up to
the ELM.
Once the master card has been suc‑
cessfully read in, the green LED lights
up to signal that the ELM is in the
operating mode.
Read-in of users
• To activate the programming
mode: Hold the master card up to
the ELM.
The red LED lights up and signals
that the ELM is in the programming
mode.
• Hold the users EK/EKC 601‑... up
to the ELM in sequence.
Once a user has been successfully
read in, the green LED lights up.
Terminating the read-in process
The read‑in process is automatically
terminated 15 seconds after the last
user has been read in.
• To manually terminate the read‑in
process: Hold the master card up to
the ELM.
The ELM is in the operating mode
and the green LED is alight.
Deleting users
Note: In stand‑alone operation it
is not possible to delete individual
users.
• To delete all users apart from the
master card: Hold the master card
up to the ELM for appr. 15 seconds.
The red LED flashes for 3 seconds
and signals that all users apart from
the master card have been deleted.
• To delete all users including the
master card (restore as‑delivered
status): With the power on, turn the
rotary switch (back of the device) to
the "0" position and then return to
the "1" position.
The red LED flashes for 3 seconds
and signals that all users including
the master card have been deleted.
Servicing
3 Measurement points
The measurement points of the
functional units which are located
parallel to the terminals are acces‑
sible when mounted. For measure‑
ments, the test shaft cover must be
removed. After measuring, replace
the test shaft cover.
Exchanging the functional unit
Modules may only be exchanged by
specialist personnel when the equip‑
ment is not live, i.e. when discon‑
nected from the mains.
4 Release the operating panel using
the enclosed mounting key and take
it off.
5 Unscrew the ELM at the mounting
plate, tilt forward at the top, remove
from the mounting plate and release
the connecting plug.
6 Connect new ELM, insert and
screw to the mounting plate.
7 Carry out a function check
8 Place the operating panel on the
mounting panel and lock using the
mounting key.
The marking in the mounting key
must be flush when locked with the
upper edge of the operating panel.
