If the Booster is completely discharged then we recommend that the Booster be charged for a period of 48 hours, so
that an optimal functionality capability is guaranteed for the next required utilization.
6.2.2. Method of working with the automatic network-charging device (Charging cycles)
Phase 1: Bulk charging = up to approximately 70% of the battery capacity- charging device supplies the maximum
charging current "Awakening"
Phase 2: Absorption = up to approximately 90% of the battery capacity – retains a constant and safe charge voltage -
charging current will be reduced guaranteeing a maximum internal chemical energy transfer.
Phase 3: Maintenance = up to maximum 100% of the battery capacity
6.2.3. Stationary charging (network current)
1. Connect the Booster up to the charging device, by means of plugging the plug into the charging socket on the rear
side of the Booster.
2. Now plug the charging device plug into the household mains socket.
NOTE: The main switch for the Booster 550.1720 must be put into in the position 12V. If the main switch is in the
OFF or 24 Volt position then a continuous audio signal is sounded and "CHA" blinks in the display.
3. The Booster will now charge. „CHA" appears in the display and a running coloured bar indicates the charging
process.
4. As soon as the charging process is completed "FUL" appears in the display and all lamps in the coloured bars are
continuously illuminated.
NOTE: The Booster must not be connected up with any current source when checking the actual battery
voltage on the Voltmeter in the display.
6.2.4 Mobile charging

The vehicle charging method is not an automatic charging method. Frequent monitoring of the charging process is the
only safe way of ensuring the unit is not overcharged.
When charging over the vehicle cigarette lighter socket the following must be observed:
- If the Booster is being charged over the vehicle on-board network, then the charge control does not function in the
display.
- ATTENTION: There is no overcharging protection!!! Regular monitoring of the charging process is a necessity, so
that possible damage to the Booster is avoided.
- NOTE: The Booster must not be connected up with any current source when checking the actual battery charge
condition.
- The vehicle motor must be started prior to making the connection!
- The main switch must be positioned at 12 V prior to charging the Boosters 550.1720.
