Network settings
Connect the device with a network cable using the Ethernet interface to your computer (fig. 3,

item 11).
Note:
You may need to use a cross-over cable for this purpose.
Change the IP address of your computer to any address in the range 192.168.0.xxx, e.g.
192.168.0.191. The default address 192.168.0.190 of the device may not be used.
Set the subnet mask to the value 255.255.255.0.
If necessary, switch off the proxy server in the browser in order to permit a direct connection to the
device.
Enter the http://192.168.0.190 address in the browser (fig. 4, item 1). The login dialogue to log in to
the device will be displayed.
Login as admin user with password admin (fig. 4, item 2).
Click the Processing Unit entry (fig. 4, item 3) in the left-hand subarea of the overview window (con-
figuration area) and the Configuration tab (fig. 4, item 4) in the right-hand subarea (navigation area).
Click the TCP/IP button in the Network group frame (fig. 4, item 5).
Note:
The settings for the IPv4 protocol are described below in detail. For further information on
TCP/IP configuration, please see section 1.1.
Change the IP address of the device in the TCP/IP Configuration window in the IPv4 Configura-
tion group frame to an address permitted in the network (fig. 4, item 6).
If necessary, correct the settings for the net mask and the gateway.
Alternatively, select the "DHCPv4" setting instead of "Manual" for an automatic IP allocation.
Click the Save button to save the settings.
Change the network settings of your computer to their original values of the IP address and the sub-
net mask.
Disconnect the network cable to your computer.
Connect the CMC III PU with a network cable with your Ethernet LAN (fig. 3, item 11).

(see section 7).
Note:
In its delivered state, all protocols are activated as standard without SSL encryption. For
applications with enhanced safety requirements, please note the following:

Do not operate the system directly on the Internet, but only in internal networks (in-
tranet), and be sure to provide suitable external protection via firewalls.
Do not use the default passwords; instead, be sure to use secure, long passwords
containing numbers, a mix of upper case and lower case letters, symbols and no rep-
etitions. For SNMP, overwrite the default community strings "public".
Only use secure, encrypted protocols, or deactivate unsecure protocols such as Tel-
net, FTP etc.
