SAFETY CHECKS

FOLLOW ALL THE APPLICABLE NATIONAL REGULATIONS.
1. General description of operation:
By means of the STORCH High-Pressure "Octopus" the water
sprayed on a facade (or any other surface such as walls,
ceilings, floors) by a high-pressure cleaner is immediately
collected; the solid materials contained in the waste water,
like e.g. paints, residues of varnish etc., are filtered out
down to a particle diameter of 0.21 mm, so that the purified
water can generally (depending on the regulations of the
local waste water authority) be discharged into sewage
drains, and does not present a pollution problem for the
environment. The high-pressure hose supplied (a) is to be
connected to the customer's high-pressure cleaner and to
the cleaning hood (b) through which the water is blasted
onto the surface to be cleaned. By means of the suction unit
(d) a vacuum is produced in the cleaning hood, which means
that the waste water is conducted directly into the suction
unit through the suction hose (f) with only a minimum amount
of water escaping from the cleaning hood. Thus the high-
pressure cleaner can be used in closed rooms, staircases
etc. The water in the suction unit is filtered through a filter
(available from 210 to 600 µ) and is, subsequently, pumped
continually into the outlet hose (e) by means of the integrated
submerged pump. The high-pressure OCTOPUS is delivered
with a 400 µ filter.

1.1 Marks of conformity

Important:
Use only biodegradable paint removers of water danger class
I, if you intend to discharge the waste water into sewage
drains, as the dissolved paint removers can not be filtered
out. Otherwise you may have to collect the waste water in
tanks and dispose of it, depending on the local water
treatment regulations.
Caution: The Sikkens Radikalfresser remover can not be
used with this unit.
2. Preparation of the work with the STORCH High-Pressure
"Octopus":
The high-pressure cleaner and the suction unit are to be
connected to two separate circuits, as the suction unit draws
a current of 11 A and, depending on the high-pressure
cleaner used, a single 16 A fuse-protected circuit would be
overloaded. Connect the high-pressure cleaner to the cleaning
hood. Connect the cleaning hood and the suction unit to the
suction hose. Check whether the suction unit including the
pump and the outlet hose are ready for operation. Switch on
the suction unit and the high-pressure cleaner and set the
cleaning hood onto the surface to be cleaned. Activate the
pistol grip on the cleaning hood and check whether the dirt
miller rotates. The rotating dirt miller can be blocked throuth
lime scale.
3. Tips for practical application:
3.1 Water:
Select the water pressure suitable for the respective base
surface. Generally speaking, the cleaning performance is
better at a higher pressure. At a pressure of more than 100
bars, in some cases even lower, damage to the base surface
can be done. The cleaning hood is designed for a maximum
of 200 bars. The cleaning result is significantly improved
with hot water.
Note: Max. water temperature 80°C. Integrated temperature-
detector controls automatically switch off the suction unit
and the integrated submerged pump when a temperature of
approx. 85°C is reached. After a cooling period of approx.
15 minutes, the suction unit and the submerged pump can
be switched on again. In order to support the cooling process,
please lift the suction head off the lower part of the drum.
3.2 Cleaning Hood:
The handle can be screwed onto either the right or the left
side. The sealing brushes can be adjusted after loosening
the screws on the outside. In case of smooth surfaces the
sealing brushes are to protrude about 2-3 mm from the
castors at the bottom side of the cleaning hood.
In case of rough surfaces increase the length of the brush
