Error/Warning Messages
There are two kinds of messages: error messages and
warning messages. This section lists these messages
together with their possible causes and remedies. Note
the messages and act accordingly.
Error Messages
If a problem occurs, the ALARM lamp lights in orange
and an error message stating the problem appears on the
monitor and in the printer window display.

In the error message introduced in the following tables,
"nn" indicates the number or symbol displayed in the
actual message.
Possible causes and remedies
An ink ribbon and paper are not loaded.
tLoad the ink ribbon and paper. (See pages 17 and 18.)
• Paper has been exhausted.
tLoad the paper. (See page 18.) Also, replace the ink
ribbon.
• The paper tray is not installed.
tInstall the paper tray. (See page 19.)
The ink ribbon is not loaded.
tLoad the ink ribbon. (See page 17.)
• The ink ribbon has been exhausted.
tReplace the old one with a new ink ribbon. (See
page 17.) (The ink ribbon cannot be reused.) In this
case, if the white paper is ejected. Discard this paper.
• The ink ribbon has torn.
tRepair the torn ink ribbon. (See page 18.)
The maximum number of printouts has accumulated on the
paper tray.
tRemove the printouts. Printing starts again.
The paper jams around the paper tray.
tRemove the paper tray and pull out any jammed paper.
(See page 68.)
The ink ribbon and paper are not compatible.
tUse the ink ribbon and paper contained in the same
package. (See page 61.)
The front door is open.
tClose the front door.
• The ink ribbon has torn.
tRepair the torn ink ribbon. (See page 18.)
• An ink ribbon that can not be used with this printer has
been loaded.
tLoad the appropriate ink ribbon. (See page 61.)
Paper has jammed inside the printer.
tRemove any jammed paper from the printer. (See
page 68.)
Some trouble occurs in the printer.
tTurn off the printer once. Then turn on the printer again
and try to operate the printer.
If the error message appears again, contact your Sony
service facility or your Sony dealer to clear the error
status.
