. Programming of the speed controller
The speed controller is already adjusted to the remote control unit included and the model. When using a new speed control-
ler or a new transmitter and after reversing the direction of the rotation of the motor by means of the reverse switch on the
transmitter, however, the control range of the accelerator/brake lever has to be reset.
Setting the control range of the accelerator/brake lever
>
Switch the speed controller off and the transmitter on.
>
Press and hold down the set button (arrow) and switch on the speed controller.
As soon as the red LED begins to blink, immediately release the set button.
>
Put the accelerator/brake lever in the neutral position and press the set button.
The green LED will blink once, and a signal sound will be heard.
>
Put the accelerator/brake lever in the full speed position and press the set button
another time.
The green LED will blink twice, and the signal sound will also be heard twice.
>
Put the accelerator/brake lever in the braked position and press the set button
another time.
The green LED will blink three times, and the signal sound will also be heard
three times.
>
The adjustment of the control range is now completed, and the motor can be
started after 3 more seconds.
For more far-reaching programming, follow the separate Operating Instructions for the speed controller.
The speed controller has more adjustments for advanced drivers, such as:
>
3 operating modes "forward with brake", "forward/reverse with brake" and "rock crawler mode" (forward/reverse, without
brake)
>
8-stage "drag brake" setting
>
6-stage selection of the interrupting voltage
>
9-stage adjustment of the start-up behaviour ("punch") from "soft" to "very aggressive"
>
4-stage setting of the maximum braking strength
>
4 reverse speeds
>
4-stage setting of the braking strength when the braking takes affect
>
3-stage neutral operation
>
8-stage motor timing (only with sensorless motors)
Furthermore, an external module, a programming card, is available in the accessories for user-friendly programming of the
speed controller.
. Installation of the „wheelie bar"
The extreme power output of the brushless SpeedHammer can lead to backward
overturning of the model during intense bursts of speed or uphill acceleration.
Depending on driving skills or terrain, we thus recommend installing the option
„wheelie bar" instead of the rear bumper. This consists of a spring-suspended bar
with two rolls. In effect, the bar is an extension of the chassis plate and does not
work until the front axis is raised from the floor. The rolls allow the model to conti-
nue driving forward without being slowed down too much.
>
Loosen the 6 attachment screws of the rear bumper, two each below the bottom
of the chassis, in the rear and parallel to the chassis plate and on top of the anti-
roll bar.
>
Pull off the bumper toward the rear.
>
Insert the guide pins on the wheelie bar in the provided openings and push the
wheelie bar in the right position with the pressure spring facing up.
>
Attach the wheelie bar with the 6 screws instead of the rear bumper.
