Moving wire lane, installation of control unit
1. Remove negative terminal from the battery.
2. Remove covering from the tail plate and both tail lights.
Fold over luggage compartment carpet.
3. Remove the welsh plug from the central cable leadthrough in the luggage compartment floor
(40mm).
4. Lay the socket end of the wire lane towards the power socket retaining plate through the bore
hole provided. Pull on the leadthrough bushing and the socket sealing, insert the leadthrough
bushing and connect the socket according to the wiring plan. Fit together the inner part with the
socket housing, put the socket sealing in place and screw onto the holder with the enclosed
screws. Make sure the seals sit properly.
5. Run the wire lane with the colours green/red and red/green along the luggage compartment
entrance edge to the right rear light.
Lay the wire lane with the colours yellow, grey/black and the control unit plug along the entrance
edge of the luggage compartment to the left rear light.
6. Remove the plugs from the rear lights and connect the corresponding plug of the electronic
installation to the rear lights. Adapt the plugs of the vehicle wire lane with the corresponding
sockets of the electrical system.
7. Affix the brown and brown/white earth wire on the vehicle earth at the left with the ring eyelets.
8. The single green wire is to be connected on the right side with the black/blue wire of the reverse
headlamp. A blue snap-in connection is enclosed in the delivery package for this.
According to the model year the two remaining wires (blue and grey) are laid either
version A from centre to left, models up to 9/97 with 2 and 8-fold connection left, or
version B from centre to right, models from 10/97 with connection at the right underneath the
light.
In version A separate the 2-fold plug link and connect the blue wire of the electrical system with
the grey/white lead of the wire lane from the vehicle rear fog lamp switch, and the grey wire of the
electrical system with the grey/white lead leading to the rear fog lamp.
In version B separate the grey/white lead near the connection on the right below the tail light and
connect the blue wire of the electrical system with the wire which leads to the rear fog lamp
switch, and connect the grey wire with the wire end towards the rear fog lamp.
9. Insert the white 12-pin plug into the control unit and affix the unit in a suitable place on the left
side wall with Velcro tape.
