4.4 ETF - Intact tympanic membrane

ETF stands for "Eustachian Tube Function", this test assesses its function in patients with intact
tympanic membrane.
The automatic test, described by P. Williams (Ann Otol 84: 1975, 339-343), is performed using 226 Hz
probe tone, this is the most significant frequency for Tube function measure.
Test execution
Switch on the device and press the ETF icon (see adjacent image) on main menu to enter
the ETF test.
The screen shows a single chart with a colored stripe in the diagram upper section (red+R = right,
blue+L= left) to indicate the examined ear.
Press on the colored stripe to change sides.
The screen also shows the results table, zoom icon, pump speed selection and the start/stop button.
1. Test parameters
Directly press on the area of the tympanogram display to change the ear to be tested (R / L). The upper
part of the tympanometric path is red (R) or blue (L) color based on the selected ear to be tested.
Pressing the AUTO icon toggles between automatic mode, slowing the pump as it passes
the tympanometric peak pressure; or running as fast as possible.
