HINGING THE AILERONS AND FLAPS
1. Remove the aileron and fl ap from the wing panel. Place a
T-pin in the center of each hinge.
2. Use a pin vise and 1/16-inch (1.5 mm) drill bit to drill
a hole in the center of each hinge slot to allow the CA
to wick into the hinge. Drill holes in both the wing and
control surfaces at this time.
3. Slide the hinges into position with the T-pin resting
against the edge of the control surface.
4. Fit the aileron and fl aps to the wing panel, making sure
the hinges are inserted into the hinge slots.
5. Remove the T-pins from the hinges.

6. Adjust the position of the fl ap and aileron so all gaps are
equal.
7. Apply thin CA to the top and bottom of each hinge. Once
the CA cures, gently pull on the fi xed surface and control
surface to make sure the hinges are glued securely. If not,
apply additional CA to secure each of the hinges.
AILERON AND FLAP CONTROL HORN INSTALLATION
1. Locate the aileron and fl ap control horns. The taller
control horn is used for the ailerons, and the shorter horn
for the fl aps.
2. Use sandpaper to scuff the bottom of the aileron and fl ap
control horns. Use a paper towel and isopropyl alcohol to
remove any oils or debris from the control horns.
3. Check the fi t of the control horns to the aileron and fl ap.
They should rest fl ush against the control surface as
shown.
