Safety system
IRT PowerCassette is interlocked using an installation
adapted safety system to prevent overheating.
Monitoring the temperature in the IRT PowerCassette
heating modules takes place using a temperature switch,
which cuts the voltage if the critical temperature is ex-
ceeded.
5.7
Electrical and control system
The voltage across the IRT lamps is modified using a
solid state relay to control the drying effect provided by
IRT-System, this gives variable output control. In addition,
the electrical system houses the automatic system and
alarms.
5.8
IRT Equipment
The equipment consists of one IRT PowerCassette.
IRT PowerCassette is equipped with a connector for the
cooling air supply. A junction box with flexible cable
and a quick connector for connection to the IRT Power-
Cassette is provided as standard. The flexible cable is
mechanically attached to the casing in the front.
The IRT heaters are arranged so that even heat distribu-
tion is obtained laterally across the product's direction of
travel.
The effective heating/drying width provided by IRT
PowerCassette can be varied in different zone widths.

Function description
6.1
Work on the installation
No work must be carried out on the installation without
first isolating the voltage. The lamps can still be live even
though they are not on.
The normal post cooling time is 3 minutes for IRT Power-
Cassette.
The IR-cassette's side and end sections can, while op-
erational and for a period thereafter, have a temperature
level that exceeds the maximum contact temperature.
Protective glass
Keep the glass as clean as possible. Clean these during
longer stoppages. This reduces energy consumption and
increases the service life of the lamps.
Check the temperature of the glass before dismantling
damaged units to prevent injuries caused by burning.
Rinsing with water
Rinsing the installation while it is operational is forbid-
den. If the installation system has been sprayed by
water, for example via a sprinkler system or any other
method, any remaining water in the installation should
air dried, by activating the ventilation system for a period
of approximately 15 minutes before restarting. This is to
prevent any electrical flash over in the installation.
If water is used to clean the equipment it should be set in
the service mode with the voltage isolated, however, the
ventilation system should be on. Avoid directing water
directly on the front of the installation.
The equipment can be cleaned using high pressure
cleaning equipment, but this ought to be carried out by
skilled personnel.

Air filter
Check regularly to see whether the air filter is blocked. A
blocked air filter can cause overheating in IRT PowerCas-
sette resulting in damaged lamps.
Machine stoppage
The machine should be inspected and any paper residue
removed after a machine stoppage.
6.2
Control
IRT PowerCassette is controlled from EMBA's control
panel.
Alarms are indicated in EMBA's control panel.
The set points for the power will be set from EMBA's
control panel.
6.3
Start
•
Check that the main power switch on the electrical
cabinet is switched on.
•
Check that no alarms are activated.
•
Select heating width. 9 zones are available.
•
At least one zone must be selected to run the sys-
tem, but you are free to select which you like to. The
selection will be made from EMBA's control panel.
•
The setpoint for the heater should be set from
EMBA's control panel.
•
When switching the external interlock, MACHINE
PRINT, IRT PowerCassette will light up.
Note! The inlet air fan starts automatically when the
heater is starting.
6.4
Stop
The installation is stopped by:
•
The lack of a signal from external interlocks.
The machine is stopped automatically by:
•
The signal MACHINE PRINT turns to 0.
•
A-alarm.
•
Activating the machine's emergency stop.
Note! With normal operations the IR-OFF button should
be used. Do not use the IR-emergency stop button dur-
ing normal operating conditions.
When the installation is stopped the inlet air fan runs for
a further three minutes for post cooling of the installa-
tion. In the event of an emergency stop the fan stops
immediately.
The time for the IR-lamps to switch off is the same for a
normal stop as an IR-emergency stop.
6.5
Controlling the IR output
The drying output is controlled between 0-100 % from
the EMBAs control panel.
6.6
Alarms
Alarms are emergency stop and high temperature in the
IRT PowerCassette.
The temperature in the IRT PowerCassette is monitored
by using 1 (one) temperature switch in each IR zone con-
nected in serial.
Alarms are reset from EMBA's control panel.
