Overload Protection
This saw is fitted with an overload protection
which is displayed by an LED, to prevent dam-
aging the tool.
If the LED blinks during cutting, it means the
machine is nearing overload. If the LED lights
up continuously, it means the machine is over-
loaded, and the machine will turn off. In this
case, reduce the feed rate to achieve the best
results. If the LED lights up steadily, the
machine is either overloaded or has hit an
obstacle. In this case the machine turns off.
Set the switch to off and turn the machine
back on.
Cutting
This saw is unique because it clamps the
material to be cut between its base plate and
the work surface, using a plunge action to
ease the blade into the cut. This results in a
faster, easier and cleaner cut. This saw is
equipped with a soft start function, the start is
very smooth. The machine will not start sud-
denly when the ON/OFF switch is pressed.
Whenever possible use the included parallel
guide.
1.
Make sure the saw blade is correct for the
material you want to cut.
2.
Fit the correct blade ensuring it is sharp
and not damaged.
3.
Set the cutting depth.
4.
Place the material to be cut onto a flat
surface such as a workbench, table or
floor. Use a piece of scrap material under-
neath to prevent marking the work surface
and prevent damaging the blade by the
work surface e.g. by a concrete floor.
5.
Grasp the handle firmly with your hand so
that it feels comfortable. Your finger
should be towards the front of the power
switch.
6.
Do not cover any of the front or rear vents
with your hand.
7.
To operate, push the safety of the switch
forward and press the switch. Whilst you
are pressing the switch the unit is running.
When you let go the switch the unit turns
off.
8.
Rest the tool with its metal base plate onto
the surface to be cut. For a full cut, ensure
28

that the rear half of the base plate over-
hangs the work piece. Do not plunge the
blade into the material.
9.
Switch on the tool and wait for two sec-
onds for the blade to run up to speed.
Next, press the locking button of the
safety cutting shoe (7) and plunge the
blade into the material slowly and gently,
but firmly. The overload indicator LED (9)
should not light up, if it starts to flash,
reduce the speed of your advance.
10. Then push the tool forwards along the
line to be cut. Never draw the tool back-
wards. If the LED starts to flash, reduce
the feed. If the machine stops and the LED
lights up steadily, the overload protection
has turned the machine off, because
either the feed rate became too high or the
saw blade was stopped by an obstacle in
the work piece. In this case turn the
machine off, check the work piece, and
resume cutting at a reduced feed rate.
11. Very little force should be used to feed the
tool along the cut. Excess force will cause
operator fatigue and excessive wear to the
blade and tool.
12. Ensure that the base plate is always held
flat on the material being cut. This is par-
ticularly important at the start or finish of a
cut or if thin strips are being cut where the
base plate is not fully supported.
Following Lines
1.
Pointers at the front and rear of the safety
cutting shoe allow a line to be followed
when cutting.
2.
For more accurate and neater cutting a
metal ruler, held with the free hand, can be
followed. To position the ruler draw a
second line 12 mm to the left of the cutting
line or 44 mm to the right of the cutting
line for left handed operators.
Making Cut-Outs
Please Note: Plunge cutting may not be possi-
ble in some hard materials.
1.
Set the depth of cut, plug in the mains
supply and then place the metal base
plate onto the work surface. Ensure that
the rear width indication mark on the
safety cutting shoe aligns with the start
line.
