In addition to the Maximum Use Concentrations (MUC), Limitations, and the warnings and cautions
placed in the instructions for the half mask respirator, the following general safety points must be read
and understood by everyone intending to use the Sundström remote filter holder.
1.
This remote filter holder in combination with the half mask respirator and the breathing hose are
designed to be used only by TRAINED QUALIFIED PERSONNEL.
2.
The Sundström combination must be equipped with the appropriate NIOSH approved air-purifying
filters, chemical cartridges, or filter/cartridge combinations, that are properly installed.
3.
Be aware that the breathing hose might make a loop and get caught up by something in your
surroundings.
4.
Never lift or carry the equipment by the breathing hose.
5.
Ensure that the o-ring(s) and the gasket on the breathing hose is in place.
6.
Ensure that the breathing hose is firmly secured.
If a competent authority does not specify the appropriate protection, nor should you feel uncertain about
the proper application, selection, or maintenance of this equipment, consult your supervisor, safety
professional, or local occupational health organization. Do not enter a suspected hazardous area. You

IV. CONFIGURATION AND SELECTION GUIDE
UNPACKING
Check that the equipment is complete in accordance with the packing list and has not been damaged
in transit. Use only components listed on the NIOSH approval label in the approved configuration and in
accordance with the part numbers.
