1. General user/safety instructions
The following user instructions were created with great care. No
guarantee or liability is assumed for the correctness and completeness
of the data, illustrations and drawings, unless this is required by law.
W e reserve the right to make technical changes in the interest of
continuous product improvement at any time without prior notice!
CAUTION
The motor-driven base frame can be used by children aged 8 years
and over and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been
given supervision or instructions concerning the safe use of the motor-
driven base frame and understand the hazards involved. Children must
not play with the motor-driven adjustment of the base frame. Cleaning
and user maintenance must not be carried out by children without
supervision.
CAUTION
The drive system must only be used with the supplied power supply.
This electrical drive is only intended for use in electric motor-driven
adjustable base frames for domestic use. The drive in your base frame
must not be used
• with or fitted into a medical device,
• in an environment where flammable or explosive gases or
• vapours (e.g. anaesthetics) are likely to occur,
• in a damp environment,
• ourdoors,
• in devices that are cleaned in car washes,
• for lifting and lowering loads in manual or industrial use,
• in airplanes or other aircraft
• in nuclear power stations..
Dismantling the drive and using it in another product, in another
function, is at your own risk!
CAUTION
Works on the power cable and replacement of the power cable may
only be carried out by personnel with the following qualifications:
• personnel with completed training as an electrician or
• personnel with an equivalent qualification or
• personnel, who successfully took part in special trainings
(e.g. provided by the manufacturer of the drives).
24
To avoid hazards, only carry out work on the power cable if you
have such a qualification, or only commission appropriately trained
personnel to do so.
CAUTION
Be sure to follow the instructions in these instructions!
In this way, you prevent errors during assembly or
connection from causing
• injury and accidents and
• damage to the drive system or the end product.
CAUTION
The mains-independent reset function is not a safety system in the
sense of hazard prevention.
CAUTION
Troubleshooting and fault rectification must only be carried out by
a specialist who has completed training as an electrician or has
an equivalent qualification.
CAUTION
Only use spare parts that have been approved by the manufacturer of
the drives (see type plate) for the intended use or by hülsta. Only these
guarantee adequate safety.
The safety of a motor-driven base frame is directly linked to its
intended use. hülsta motor-driven base frames have been designed for
domestic use in combination with a suitable mattress. The main aspect
is the intended use: to sleep on it, plus the possibility to comfortably
sit in bed and/or to achieve a lying position using the motor-driven
adjustment of the base frame. Should the motor-driven base frame
be intended for the care of old, frail people or the sick, please note
that for reasons of liability this is only permissible upon approval by a
recommended retailer or hülsta. A hülsta motor-driven base frame has
no approval for medical/care purposes. ( see caution notice p. 2). In
order to avoid injury or damage whilst using a motor-driven base frame,
people or objects must not be placed between the bed and base frame
or the adjustment areas of the base frame. The motor-driven base
frame is not a toy! Do not leave the manual switch/transmitter with
children. ( see caution notice p. 2). The mattress must be suitable for
the special motorised adjustments. Resulting from relevant standard
safety tests for normal single standard sizes (70, 80, 90, 100, 120, 140
cm width), a proven maximum load of 140 kg is acceptable. For any
loads exceeding this limit, warranty or guarantee services can only be
defined upon prior agreement with hülsta. Overloads of the adjustable
areas (adjusted back and leg section) must be avoided (see illustration
on page 4). Sitting on the adjusted back section can cause destruction
and is therefore not permissible. Any handling that is not described
within the user instructions is not deemed part of the intended use and
therefore not permissible. Contact the hülsta service department in the
