2. General safety regulations and protective measures
• The �anu�acturer and users o� the plant / �achine on which the protection is being used are
responsible �or i�ple�enting and �ollowing all applicable sa�et�� regulations and rules.
• When used in conjunction with the higher-order controller, the protection guarantees �unctional
sa�et��, but not the sa�et�� o� the entire plant / �achine. The sa�et�� o� the entire plant / �achine
�ust, there�ore, be assessed in accordance with �achiner�� directive 98/37 EC or appropriate
product nor� be�ore using the device.
• The operating instructions �ust alwa��s be available at the place o� installation o� the protec-
tion.
The�� �ust be read thoroughl�� and observed b�� all persons involved in the operation, �aintenance
and servicing o� the protection.
• The protection �ust onl�� be installed and co��issioned b�� pro�essionals �a�iliar with these
operating instructions and the applicable operational sa�et�� and accident prevention regulations.
All o� the instructions provided in these operating instructions �ust be observed and �ollowed.
All electrical work �ust onl�� be per�or�ed b�� skilled electricians.
• All relevant electrical engineering and E�plo��er's Liabilit�� Insurance Association sa�et�� regulations
�ust be observed.
• During work on the switching unit, it is to be switched to zero potential, checked to ensure that
it is at zero potential and protected against being restarted.
• I� the se�iconductor outputs are charged with a voltage �ro� an external source it �ust be
ensured that this is also turned o�� be�ore co��encing work on the switching unit.
• The switching unit does not contain an�� co�ponents that require servicing b�� the user.
Unauthorised conversions and repairs �ade to the switching unit will void all guarantees and
the �anu�acturer's liabilit��.
• The protection s��ste� is to be pro�essionall�� inspected at appropriate intervals and be docu�ented
in such a wa�� that it is co�prehensible at all ti�es.
Safety advice
• The switching unit enables operation at 24 V DC. Connecting the operating voltage to the wrong
ter�inals can destro�� the switching unit.
• The switching unit is to be installed in a switching cabinet.
• Do not install in the i��ediate vicinit�� o� strong sources o� heat.
• For capacitive and inductive loads, ensure adequate protective circuits.
For the design of the safety system to conform to engineer standards
acc. to EN 954-1 category 2, the safety system must be tested prior to
each dangerous movement of the plant / machine. Without testing, the
operation or wiring of ISK 70-75 safety relay does not satisfy these safety
requirements.
The manufacturer assumes no liability in the event of non-observance
or intentional abuse.
