M.4
AGR
®
Intended purpose
The M.4 AGR is a functional knee
orthosis. The product is exclusively to be
used for the orthotic fitting of the knee
and only on unbroken skin.
Indications
"Genu recurvatum", otherwise known as
hypermobility
Contraindications
None have been noted to date.
Important Note
Only change or modify the extension
limits on the instruction of your
healthcare provider or orthopaedic
technician. To avoid hyperextension,
always insert extension inserts at 0°.
Furthermore, ensure the correct
positioning of the brace: the central
parts of the hinge should be in line with
the top of the kneecap; the hinge
should be positioned behind the medial
lateral line of the leg.
Instructions for the orthopaedic
technician:
Adjusting the extension:
Extension limitation inserts (grey;
extension limits):
0°, 10°, 20°, 30°.
1 The medial adjustment (inner) and
lateral adjustment (outer) of the
degrees should always be equal.
Extension inserts at 0° are already
integrated into the brace.
2 To change the inserts, loosen the
cover screws, remove the cover and
unscrew the insert screws. To easily
remove the inserts, gently bend the
knee device.
3 The extension inserts are marked R-E
(RIGHT) or L-E (LEFT) and indicate the
respective degrees. Position the insert
in such a way that the letter L or R is
the same as the hinge plate. Push the
new extension insert between the
two plates and fasten it with the
screws.
4 Bend and flex the hinge to check that
the inserts have been correctly
positioned. Lastly, reposition the
hinge cover.
Replacing the rubber washers:
The rubber washer inside the hinge can
be replaced if it becomes worn or in
order to increase or reduce the
resistance by selecting the correct
density of the mechanical device
(increase or decrease, respectively, the
hardness of the rubber washers). Before
replacement, select the rubber washer
with the most suitable hardness (shore
- hardness of the rubber washer: 80
shore = min, 90 shore = medium, 95
shore = max), cross-referencing the
weight and recurvatum degree as shown
in Table 1.
NB: The rubber washer positioned in the
medial part (inner) and the rubber
washer located in the lateral part (outer)
should always have the same hardness
and degree of wear.
