Important Safety Notes
G
WARNING
The roof load causes the vehicle to have a higher
center of gravity, thereby changing the vehicle's
driving characteristics. You must observe the
maximum permissible roof load for your vehicle.
(Please refer to the vehicle's Operator's Manual.)
Never exceed the maximum roof load or the
maximum permissible gross weight for your
vehicle, even when you are using roof
attachments (ski rack, bicycle carrier, etc.).
Otherwise, the basic carrier bars, mounted
accessories and the objects attached to them
could come loose from the vehicle, thereby
injuring you and other persons and/or causing
damage to property, including damage to your
vehicle.
Bear in mind that the vehicle's dimensions change
due to the mounted basic carrier system.
Please contact a qualified specialist workshop if you
encounter difficulties when fitting the carrier bars.
Mercedes-Benz recommends a Mercedes-Benz
Service Center for this purpose.
Always adapt your driving style to the prevailing road,
traffic and weather conditions, and drive with
particular care when the carrier bars are loaded.
For reasons of safety and fuel economy, the basic
carrier bars should be removed from the vehicle
when they are not needed.
Do not put the car through an automatic car wash
with the basic carrier bars mounted.
For safety reasons, Mercedes-Benz recommends
that you only use accessories that have been
approved for Mercedes-Benz specifically for use with
these carrier bars.
When installing accessories on the basic carrier bars
(bicycle rack, roof box, etc.), follow the individual
installation instructions for each accessory.
