Installation
 Avoid external magnetic fields near the flow switch, since they might im-
pair the function mode of the flow switch.
 Avoid mounting the flow switch near large ferromagnetic parts, as they
cause magnetic interference with the flow switch, which endangers op-
erational safety.
 Keep a settling section of at least 5 x DN before and after the flow switch.
 Clean the pipe before mounting. Remove magnetic particles such as
welding residues.
 Do not use greases, oils, etc. during mounting.
 Take into account that the nominal mounting position of the flow
switches within a horizontal pipe is "upright".
 Only mount the flow switch in an upright position and take into account
the deviation of a maximal 45°. Please contact SIKA, when the mount-
ing position differs.
 Take into account that the arrow on the flow switch points into the flow
direction and runs parallel to the pipe axis.
 When tightening, counter the pipe against the provided surface.
Additional information for flow switch type VH...X
 When installing and before starting-up, it is to be guaranteed that the
mechanical process connections are technically tight.
 Always consider the impermeability of the screwing elements for the zone allocation. De-
pending on the operating conditions, it may be necessary to regularly check the imper-
meability of the screwing elements.

2.1 Pipe section

With threaded connection
 Seal the thread with a suitable sealing material (e. g. hemp or Teflon tape) or sealing
rings.
 Screw the pipe section to the pipeline.
 Insert the O-ring into the groove.
For soldering
 Remove the flow switch and the O-ring from the pipe section.
 Solder the pipe section to the pipeline.
 Insert the O-ring into the groove.
For gluing
 Clean the connection surfaces with a suitable special cleaner.
 Glue the pipe section to the pipeline.
 Place the flat gasket on the sealing surface.
Install flow switch
 Turn the union nut onto the thread (do not tighten yet).
 Align the flow switch in the flow direction.
 Tighten the plastic union nut with 7...8 Nm or the metal union nut with 25...30 Nm.
