3 Transport and interim storage

On arrival, immediately check the product for
damage in transit. If damage is found, the neces-
sary procedure involving the forwarding agent
must be taken within the specified period.
CAUTION! Danger of damage!
Incorrect transport and incorrect storage can
damage the pump.
• When transporting, only carry or suspend the
pump by the shackle. – Never by the cable!
• When the pump is lowered into deep sumps or
pits, a rope or chain must be used.
• The pump must be protected from moisture,
frost and mechanical damage during transport
and interim storage.

4 Intended use

The submersible motor pump is suitable for
pumping drainage and sewage from sumps and
tanks with a pressure pipeline of DN 32 or higher.
MTC series submersible pumps are suitable for
pumping sewage with the usual admixtures (as
stipulated in DIN 1986, Part 3) from sumps, pits
and pumping stations that are not linked to the
public sewer network. They may be used for
pumping sewage from lavatory and urinal systems
only if no Ex protection is required.
MTC...Ex series submersible pumps are suitable
for pumping drainage and sewage containing fae-
ces (without stones) from pumping stations that
are connected to the public sewer network.

sive areas, please contact the trade inspectorate,
TÜV, building authority or professional associa-
tion.
The regulations for the installation and operation
of this unit are outlined in the "Ordinance con-
cerning the protection of safety and health in the
provision of work equipment and its use at work,
concerning safety when operating installations
subject to monitoring and concerning the organi-
sation of industrial safety and health at work, Arti-
cle 1 of the Ordinance on Industrial Safety and
Health".
The submersible pump is frost-resistant up to
–20°C when stored in a dry place. However, it must
not be allowed to freeze in water once installed.
The noise emission is less than 70 dB(A).
DANGER! Risk of fatal electrical shock!
The pump must not be used for draining swim-
ming pools, garden ponds or similar installations
if there is someone in the water.
WARNING! Health hazard!
Owing to the materials used, the pumps are not
suitable for pumping potable water! Unpurified
wastewater is a health hazard.
CAUTION! Danger of damage!
Non-permitted substances in the fluid can
destroy the pump. Abrasive solids (e.g. sand)
increase pump wear.
Pumps without an Ex rating are not suitable for
use in potentially explosive areas.

Using the product as intended also means follow-
ing these instructions.
Any other use is considered improper use.

4.1 Explosion protection

The explosion protection is designed according to
the ignition protection class "pressure-proof
enclosures".
Particular attention is paid to the following stand-
ards:
• Electrical equipment for potentially explosive
areas: EN60079-0, General requirements,
EN60079-1, Pressure-proof enclosures "d"
• Labelling: Ex II 2 G Ex d IIB T4
WARNING! Risk of explosion!
The water level must not be allowed to sink
below the top edge of the pump housing. The
level control device must guarantee safe deacti-
vation when this minimum level is reached.
Failure to follow this regulation will cause dam-
age to the explosion protection.
Equipotential bonding:
According to DIN EN 60079-14 and DIN
EN 1127-1, equipotential bonding must be
installed for equipment with earth conductors
in the TN/TT network. Dimensioning in accord-
ance with VDE 0100 Part 540.
Some of the structural gap lengths and gap widths
on the device exceed the requirements of the
table values given in EN 60079-1.
