How it works
Sound and noise usually take two
paths via different transmission
chains from the auditory nerve to
the brain. The most well-known way
is via air conduction, whereby the
sound enters through the outer ear
and travels through the inner ear to
the auditory nerve. The second, less
well-known way is via bone conduc-
tion. In this case, the sound is trans-
mitted through the head bone to the
auditory nerve. Thus, the bone con-
duction receiver complements and
supports the conventional method
of sound transmission through vibra-
tion.
When the bone conduction receiver
is affixed in the vicinity of the outer
ear, make sure that it makes good,
secure contact to the head bone.
The sound is transmitted by vibra-
tion through the head bone directly
to the auditory center (see illustra-
tions).
The bone conduction receiver can be
connected to the following devices:
- CM-1 and CM-light communica-
tion systems
- Crescendo 50 sound amplifier
- CM-BT Bluetooth amplifier
- TA-2 and PL-51 telephone ampli-
fiers
- flashTEL eco, flashTEL comfort II
and flashTEL comfort II f telepho-
nes
- LR-Version TV amplification
systems
The receiver can also be connected
to other devices equipped with an
audio output jack (3.5 mm), e.g. an
MP3 player, CD player, conventional
telephones.
Maintenance and care
The bone conduction receiver is vir-
tually maintenance-free. Should it
become soiled, clean the device
