h) Continuity test
Ensure that all objects that you wish to measure (including circuit components, circuits and com-
ponent parts) are disconnected and discharged.
- Switch the DMM on and select the
- Press the 'MODE' button to toggle the measuring function. The con-
tinuity test symbol and the Ω symbol appear on the display. Press
the button again to switch to the next measuring function.
- I nsert the red test lead into the Ω measurement socket (10) and the
black test lead into the COM measurement socket (9).
- I f the measured resistance is equal to or less than 10 Ω, the multi-
meter beeps to indicate continuity. There is no further beeping from
approx. >50 Ω. The continuity test measures resistances of up to
600 Ω.
- 'OL' (overload) indicates that the measurement range has been ex-
ceeded or that the circuit is broken.
- After taking a measurement, remove the leads from the measured
object and switch the DMM off.
i) Capacitance measurement
Ensure that all objects that you wish to measure (including circuit components, circuits and com-
ponent parts) are disconnected and discharged.
Always pay attention to the polarity when using electrolytic capacitors.
- Switch the DMM on and select the 'CAP' measuring function.
- Press the 'MODE' button three times to toggle the measuring func-
tion. The unit 'nF' appears on the display for capacitance measure-
ment. Press the button again to switch to the next measuring func-
tion.
- Insert the red lead into the V socket (10) and the black lead into the
COM socket (9).
Due to the sensitive measuring input, the display may show
a reading even with 'open' test leads. Press the 'REL' button
to measure small capacities (<600 nF). The indicator is then
set to '0'. Auto range is thereby disabled.
- Connect the two probe tips (red = positive, black = negative) to the
object that you want to measure (capacitor). The capacitance is
shown on the display after a few seconds. Wait until the display
stabilises. This may take a few seconds for capacitances greater
than 40 µF.
- 'OL' (overload) indicates that the measurement range has been exceeded.
- After taking a measurement, remove the leads from the measured object and switch the DMM off.
