Commissioning

ATTENTION
Device damage due to dry-running
Dry running during water heating will result in damage to the device.
The device heating elements must be covered with water.
Ensure a sufficient water level in the storage tank.
The device will be ready for commissioning when the tasks described in the "Installation" chapter have been completed:
The installation in the storage tank is completed.
The electrical connection has been created by a trained electrician according to applicable national and local regulations.
Use the rotary control on the device to set the required temperature.
The device heats the DHW.
Note!
Device types EFHR 16.0 KW, EFHR 19.0 KW each have two rotary controls for temperature regulation.
Note!
Take the heating time for the DHW into account. Heating may require several hours and depends on the following conditions:
Device capacity.
Initial temperature of the DHW.
Storage tank volume.
Volume of DHW removed during heating.

Thermal disinfection

CAUTION
Scalding of the skin and eyes
If hot water escapes at an operating temperature of 70 °C, scalding of the skin and eyes can result.
Wear personal protective equipment: Safety gloves, safety glasses, protective clothing.
Thermal disinfection is usually performed within a facility system. The disinfection depends on the facility size.
After device commissioning, complete a thermal disinfection process for the facility system. Legionella bacteria are killed at DHW temperatures of > 70 °C.
Ensure these prerequisites for the plant system are fulfilled:
All DHW tapping points must be closed.
Ensure a DHW temperature of 70 °C upstream of the device heating area.
Proceed as follows:
1.
Use the rotary control on the device to set the temperature to 75 °C.
The device heating elements heat the DHW.
2.
Open a tap.
3.
Catch the water in an appropriate container.
4.
Verify the temperature of 70 °C of the discharging DHW.
Continuous with a temperature of at least 70°C for three minutes.
5.
After three minutes, close the tap.
Thermal disinfection is completed.
Note!
According to the Deutsche Verein für Gas- und Wasserfach e.V. [German association for gas and water professionals], a plant system for
heating domestic hot water must be thermally disinfected.
Refer to worksheet W551.
