4. Commissioning
During initial start-up, the HYDAC silencer
must be vented. This venting is performed
automatically by depressurised circulation
before actual operation of the device begins.
Inadequate venting can result in
diesel effects.
Risk of explosion!
NOTICE
Before initial start-up of the HYDAC silencer,
the screw connections (2) and (3) must be
checked for the required tightening torque
(180 - 240 Nm) and retightened as required.
For drawing referred to in the text, see fold-
out page.
4.1 Gas charging
EN
HYDAC silencers work without gas charging.
The silencing function is based on the principle
of reflection at cross section changes in the
pipes.
Pressure loss can be expected to a greater
or lesser degree, depending on the flow rate.
Further information regarding pressure loss can
be provided.
Further technical details are given in the
following brochure:
"Hydraulic dampers"
no. 3.701
4.2 Hydraulic fluids
HYDAC silencers must only be operated with
non-corrosive and non-hazardous fluids of
fluid group 2 in accordance with the European
Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
Approval is normally required for the use of
fluids from fluid group 1 in accordance with
the European Pressure Equipment Directive
(PED).
4.3 Permitted operating
temperatures
The permitted operating temperatures are
based on the HYDAC silencer used and the
connected connection parts (2) and (3); they
are specified on the silencer shell (1).
22
4.4 Permitted operating pressure
The maximum permitted operating pressure is
based on the silencer shell used (1) and the
connected connection parts (2) and (3); it is
specified on the silencer shell.
4.5 Installation
HYDAC silencers should ideally be installed
in a horizontal position. In some models, the
direction of installation is indicated by an arrow
on the shell (1).
In this case, the HYDAC silencers must be
installed in the flow direction indicated by the
arrow. The installation orientation may not
necessarily be horizontal.
4.6 Mounting
The HYDAC silencer must be installed so that,
in the event of vibrations during operation or
any break in the pipes, it will continue to be
held securely.
– As HYDAC silencers are used to dampen
pulsations at the pump outlet of positive
displacement pumps, a low-vibration
connection between pump and pipe must be
ensured.
Using suitable high-pressure hose
connections is recommended.
– The HYDAC silencer must not be used as
a load-bearing element to bear additional
loads.
– For secure mounting, HYDAC supplies
suitable mounting elements, including
mounting elements for extreme conditions.
– To improve the silencing of the entire system,
additional vibration-damping measures
should be taken for the connection machines
and devices. Using rubber vibration-dampers
and elastic couplings is recommended.
