2. Air cleaner service
A dirty air filter will restrict air flow to the carburetor, reducing engine
performance. If you operate the pump in very dusty areas, clean the air filter
more frequently than specified in the Maintenance Schedule (see page 21).
Never use gasoline or low flash point solvents for cleaning. They are
flammable and explosive under certain conditions.
CAUTION:
Never run the pump without the air cleaner. Rapid engine wear will result
from contaminants such as dust and dirt being drawn into the engine.
1. Unscrew the wing nut, remove the air cleaner cover and remove the element.
(see page 14)
2. Clean the air filter elements if they are to be reused.
Paper filter element:
Tap the air filter element several times on a hard surface to remove dirt, or
blow compressed air [not exceeding 207 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm

into the fibers. Replace the air filter if it is excessively dirty.
