DR Steam Loco, Black
The Prototype
This beautifully proportioned tank
locomotive was built in 1917 at
the Jung Locomotive Works for
the Pillkaller narrow gauge line.
The loco became well known after
it was transferred to the Spree-
wald Railway near Cottbus, a
romantic railway line running
along the canals and tree-lined
roads of this famous area.
Unfortunately, the Spreewald line
is gone, but the locomotive was
preserved by the Deutsche-
Eisenbahn-Verein
Bruchhausen-Vilsen, near Bre-
men. Today it runs on summer
weekends to the delight of tou-
rists and railroad enthusiasts
alike.
