2.
Adjustment of threshold value for entering into swing phase (screw S)
The 1P130 knee comes with factory settings that are convenient for most of the users (Fig. 3). The dynamic alignment should allow
transition into swing phase and braking activation. The threshold can be modified if the swing phase does not come at toes off, or if
resistance does not appear at heel strike.
Screw in by successive 1/4 turn until the swing phase gets released at toes off. Unscrew by successive 1/4 turn to ease brake activation.
Adjustment range = -1 turn / +2 turns
Do not fully loosen screw S because this would damage the mechanism. If in doubt, reset the adjustment so that the screw head be as
flush as possible.
There is a real risk of falling if this adjutment is wrong.
3.
Adjustment of flexion angle during swing phase (screw F) :
Screw in by successive 1/12 turn to limit flexion angle during swing phase,
especially with high walking speed. Unscrew to do the opposite.
Adjustment range = 3/4 turn
(please note : 1 turn = same adjustment)
4.
Adjustment of extension dampening at terminal impact (screw E) :
Screw in by successive 1/4 turn to increase dampening at terminal impact (end
of extension). Unscrew to do the opposite.
Adjustment range = ±1 turn
Once these adjustments are performed, make sure that the knee can return to
full extension at low walking speed to avoid
any risk of falling for the patient.

7 – Maintenance
A yearly control of the knee is recommended to check proper functioning and to clean it (dust).
If necessary, proceed to a new adjustment of the knee.
Flexion stops (RL0402) and protective hood (1P13055) can be replaced using the appropriate cyanoacrylate
glue (XC050).
8 – Advice for use, maintenance and safety
•
In order not to damage the knee, do not use talcum powder to eliminate possible rubbing noise, but rather a
silicon spray. Talcum powder damages the mechanical parts, which may lead to function defects and risk of
falling for the patient.
The use of talcum powder will render all claims against PROTEOR null and void.
•
It is strictly forbidden to remove the protective covers and to tighten or loosen any screw of this knee except for the 4 adjustment screws

F,
E
,
and
(Fig.3) and the 2 tightening screws
•
Never grease the knee axis and ball bearings because this could damage them rapidly.
Inform the patient :
•
That the warranty is not applicable to damages due to improper use, inadequate alignment, use in a very dusty environment and without
adapted protection, or any inappropriate use.
•
That there is a risk of having a finger caught or clothing pinched in the knee. To avoid any risk of injury caused by the moving joint, take
care that no one puts his finger near or inside the mechanism.
•
That it should be avoided to expose the knee in environments that can cause corrosion of metal parts (fresh water, sea water, chlorinated
water, acids, etc.). The knee is resistant to rain but needs to be dried after exposition to water.
•
When the patient is carrying a load, the knee functions can be disturbed. Especially resistance during stair descent can be insuffisant or
the knee can get stuck suddenly.
•
That in case of fall, shock or abnormal behaviour of the prosthesis, the knee should be checked by the prosthetist.
•
That holding on to the handrail is recommended when going downstairs to avoid risks of falling.
•
That at first use after a rest period of several hours, the knee can emit a clicking noise.
•
That the temperature range for knee use is from -10 °C to + 40 °C (from 14°F to 104°F).
9 – Recycling - End of life
This product includes items made of various materials : elastomer, plastics, aluminum, titanium, steel and brass. It also contains oil. They
must be recycled in compliance with the laws in force.
Maximal flexion limit
(Fig.4)
In full flexion, the socket can touch the posterior band located above the adjustment knobs.
The socket should not touch the hydraulic system to preserve it and to avoid knee
damages.
The knee is equipped with an inside stop that limits flexion to 120°.
Lock
(Fig.4)
The 1P130 knee is equipped with a lock that can be activated when the user is standing or
sitting.
To lock the knee, press knob
operation before using the knee. Press the opposite knob to release the knee.
6 – Product life
This component has been tested in accordance with standard ISO10328, load level P7
(150Kg / 330 lbs) ; the cyclical test of 3 million cycles corresponds to a use of 4 or 5 years
depending on the patient activity.
