5. PRE-OPERATION CHECKS
For safe and efficient trimming, always make a pre-operation inspection before
operating:
Before performing a pre-operation inspection, place the hedge trimmer on a
level surface, stop the engine and make sure that the engine switch is in the
OFF position to be certain the engine will not start accidentally.
Before each use, look around and underneath the engine for signs of oil or
gasoline leaks.
1. Check the engine oil level
CAUTION:
Running the engine with low oil level will cause serious engine damage.
1. Install the cutter blade cover, place the hedge trimmer vertically on a horizontal
table, and hold the cutter blade.
HHH25D: Grip the rotation lever and rotate the rear handle 90° clockwise or
counterclockwise. Place the hedge trimmer on a level surface and remove the
oil filler cap.

2. Check the oil level. If it is below the upper limit, fill with the recommended oil
(see page 25) to the upper limit.
3. Reinstall the oil filler cap securely.
