7.0 THERMAL PROTECTION
All the Load UP model battery chargers are equipped with an amperometric
protection against overloads (battery anomaly or incorrect connection) short
circuit (direct contact of the charging pliers) and polarity inversion.
♦ Models Load UP 7 and 35/250 are preset for the charging of 12 V batteries
only, they only have two charging adjustments (min-max) and are provided with
an automatic amperometric resetting protection inside the machine.
♦ Models Load UP 12-16-20-30-20elek.-30elek.: the amperometric protection is
visible on the outer housing and it consists of a black push-button which, when
in operation, comes out slighly in relation to its normal position.
8.0 TROUBLE SHOOTING
If, once all the connections have been completed following the above instructions,
the thermal protection is tripped and the ampmeter reaches the bottom of the
scale, the causes can be traced to:
• reversal of polarity in connecting the pliers to the battery: eliminate the problem
by resetting the thermal protection by pushing the proper push-button for the
manual one or wait a few minutes for the automatic one.
• casual or indirect contact between the charging pliers: eliminate the contact,
reset the thermal protection manually or wait a few minutes for the automatic
one.
• battery completely discharged and at a higher capacity than the power of the
battery charger: if the absorption of the battery is excessive, it is advisable to
have the battery re-charged by a motor vehicle electrician and later maintain it
at a high charging level with the frequent use of the battery charger or to get a
more powerful battery charger.
• battery with inner elements in short circuit: it is necessary to replace the
battery.
