Checking the Lower Guard
(Fig. 3)
1. With the Foot 4 at 0º and 45º bevel posi-
tions and at maximum depth of cut, ro-
tate the Lower Guard Lift Lever 8 to re-
tract the Lower Guard 7 all the way up
into the Upper Guard 9.
2. Release the Lower Guard Lift Lever 8 and
observe the Lower Guard 7 return to the
fully closed position.
3. With the Foot 4 at 0º and 45º bevel posi-
tions and at minimum depth of cut, rotate
the Lower Guard Lift Lever 8 to retract
the Lower Guard 7 all the way up into the
Upper Guard 9.
4. Release the Lower Guard Lift Lever 8 and
observe the Lower Guard 7 return to the
fully closed position.
The tool should be serviced by a qualified
service center if lower guard:
• Fails to return to the fully closed position,
• Moves intermittently or slowly, or
• Contacts the blade or any part of the tool
in all angles and depth of cut.
Dust Extraction
(Fig. 4)
To reduce the risk of in-
jury, always position dust
port and vacuum hose so that they do not
interfere with the lower guard, or the cut-
ting operation at all settings.
Be
when disposing of dust.
Materials in fine particle form may be explo-
sive. Do not throw sawdust on an open fire.
Spontaneous combustion, in time, may result
from the mixture of oil or water with dust
particles.

when changing between
wood, plastic, and metal materials. Hot met-
al chips can ignite wood and plastic dust or
chips, and result in fire and/or smoke dam-
age.
Dust Port
Your tool is equipped with a Dust Port 21 for
dust extraction, and can swivel so that dust
can be directed in the desired direction.
1. Insert the included Dust Port Adapter 32
into the Dust Port.
2. Attach a 1-1/4" (35 mm) Vacuum Hose
(Not included) into the Dust Adapter 32.
3. Connect the opposite end of the Vacuum
Hose (Not included) to a vacuum cleaner.
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for
the material being worked on.
When vacuuming dry dust that is espe-
cially detrimental to health or carcino-
genic, use a special vacuum cleaner /
dust extractor.
