Sanding Assembly
The rated speed of the ac-
cessory must be at least
equal to the maximum speed marked on the
power tool. Accessories running faster than
their rated speed can break and fly apart .
Wheel guard may not be
used for most sanding oper-
ations. Always reinstall wheel guard when con-
verting back to grinding operations .
Do not use the quick-clamp-
ing nut with backing pad for
sanding accessories.
To Install Backing Pad and Sanding Disc
(Fig. 9)
1 . Unplug tool from power source .
2 . Attach the Hand Shield 11 (sold separately) .
3 . Set the tool on its top side (Spindle 5 up) .
4 . Place the Rubber Backing Pad onto the Spin-
dle 5 shaft .
5 . Center the Sanding Disc on top of the Back-
ing Pad .
6 . Insert the Backing Pad Lock Nut through the
Sanding Disc, and thread it onto the Spindle
5 as far as you can with your fingers .
7 . Press in the Spindle Lock 8, then tighten the
Backing Pad Lock Nut securely with a lock
nut wrench .
TO REMOVE: Reverse the procedure .
