13. Troubleshooting
No function or no display
• Is the round plug on the mains adapter correctly plugged into the socket on the charger?
• Is the power adapter correctly plugged into the mains socket and is there a mains voltage
available?
The inserted battery is not recognized ("null" in the display)
• The battery contacts are oxidised/high-impedance. Clean the battery contacts.
• The battery is completely discharged/defective.
• Check whether the battery is inserted correctly; try a different battery slot on the charger as
a test.
After charging, the battery goes flat quickly when used
• Use a lower charge current. Depending on the battery quality, it is possible that the charger
may stop charging too soon if the charge current is too high, even though the battery is not
full. If necessary, you should follow the battery manufacturer's instructions.
• The battery is overaged. Use the "REFRESH" mode for the battery.
• NiCd batteries may suffer a memory effect when charging only partially discharged batteries.
This causes the battery to lose its capacity. Use the "REFRESH" mode for the battery.
The displayed capacity is too low
• The battery was not completely empty before charging.
• Use a lower charge current. Depending on the battery quality, it is possible that the charger
may stop charging too soon if the charge current is too high, even though the battery is not
full.
The battery heats up when charging or discharging
• This is normal, especially when using higher charge/discharge currents.
