CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
Before cleaning, switch the appliance off by setting the temperature control to
●
MIN and turning the ON/OFF button to the position "0". None of the control
lights is illuminated now. Pull the power plug and let the contact grill cool down
completely. In any case, you should clean your grill (meaning the chassis, the
grill plates and the grease drip tray) after every use to prevent leftover food from
baking in.
Cleaning the exterior of the grill
●
Clean the exterior with a soft, slightly moist towel or a non-scraping sponge and,
if need be, some mild detergent. Put the detergent on the cloth / the sponge
and not directly on the grill's exterior. Dry everything carefully.
Cleaning the grease drip tray
●
Remove the grease drip tray and clean it in warm dish water with a soft, non-
scraping sponge. Always put the detergent into the water or on the sponge,
never directly onto the grease drip tray. Then, dry everything carefully and rein-
sert into the appliance.
Caution: The grease drip tray is not dishwasher-safe!
●
Warning: Be extremely careful when removing the grease drip tray after grilling.
●
It is filled with hot grill fat and liquid!
Cleaning the grill plates
●
1. Use a soft kitchen towel to wipe coarse food remains off the grill plates. Wiping
the grill plates again with a moist cloth might be enough to clean them. With
the included cleaning spatula, loose leftovers can be removed from the grooves.
Use the cleaning spatula only if the appliance is completely cool.
2. If the grill plates are very dirty, you should remove them from the appliance and
simply clean them separately.
a) Ensure that the appliance and the grill plates are completely cold.
b) Open the grill plates to a degree of ca. 90° with the metal handle.
c) Press the upper release button, the upper grill plate is unlocked and ready to
be removed (see page 81 for a precise description).
d) Press the lower release button, the lower grill plate is unlocked and ready to
be removed (see page 81 for a precise description).
3. Clean the grill plates in hot dish water with a nylon dish scrubber or a soft,
nonscraping sponge. Always put the mild detergent into the water or on the
sponge, never directly onto the grill plates.
4. Rinse and dry the grill plates carefully, also the back sides and the contact plugs.
Then, reinsert the dry grill plates into the appliance.
