Stoking
Once there is a good bed of embers in the stove, you can add wood. It is
important not to open the door while there are ames in the stove, as this
may cause smoke to ow out into the room. Add wood on the basis of your
heating requirements. The amount of wood you need to add will depend on
the season. However, never add more than 3 kg of wood every 1.5–2 hours.
Please remember that the exterior surfaces of the stove in particular will
become very hot during stoking.
1.
Slide the air vent all the way to the left (fully open position)
2.
Open the door carefully, leave it slightly open for a couple of minutes, to
minimise the underpressure and to prevent the ashes from blowing out.
3.
Spread out the embers to an even layer
4.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that embers are not placed higher than the wholes
used for initial lighting air inlet!
5.
Place 2–4 pieces of wood in the combustion chamber, sloping up against
the back plate, to secure a clean combustion.
6.
Shut the door, but leave the air used for initial lighting in fully open posi-
tion for another few minutes, untill the ames have taken a good hold of
the wood. Then you can ajdust the air down to the point where you obtain
steady and calm ames.
The door must be closed at any time when it is not in use, to prevent emission
of ue gas.
Stoking ploblems are mostly caused by the use of damp wood or insu cient
draught in the chimney. Therefore, it is important that you check the chimney
for blockings and that the ba e plates are placed correctly. On Jydepejsens
website, jydepejsen.com, you can nd more information on trouble shooting.
In case of overheating, or a chimney re, close all air supplies and keep an eye
on the process.
