• Modules connected directly by Modbus must have the same ground potential (common PE wire / ground rod).
• Modules that refer to different ground potential (different ground rod) must be connected to Modbus via a gal-
vanic isolated repeater, because different ground rods can lead to different potentials and may cause faults in
the electronics.
For more information on Modbus, see documentation in the BEST SOFTWARE: Choose compressor or device >
Documentation > Modbus.

2. Provide internet connection:
– Variant 1: Plug your LAN cable into the ethernet port 1 (see figure below) to connect a local ethernet network
that is connected to WAN (wide area network = internet access). In case of DHCP connection (Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol), no other steps are required. If a static IP address has been assigned to the gateway
in the settings of the router and further settings like a DNS and/or NTP server were required by the adminis-
trator of the network: see figure 16, page 38 .
– Variant 2: Install and set up a SIM card for mobile communication (GSM). For details: SIM card installation ,
see figure 16, page 39 .
3. Connect devices
– Connect the gateway to BITZER devices, use the shielded cable and D-Sub 9 Pin connector on COM 1 of the
gateway (see figure below). For details: Device connection .
4. Connect the power supply
– Connect the power wires to the terminal strip (L/N/PE). Supported supply voltage are 110 .. 240 V AC
(50/60 Hz) for the box version.
– Connect the power plug of the gateway and apply 9 .. 48 V DC as shown in the figure below.
5. Power up the gateway.
– The gateway will automatically connect to the BITZER DIGITAL NETWORK.
– The following LEDs will turn on within 1 .. 5 min:
LED 1 indicates that communication between the gateway and connected devices has been established.
LED 4 indicates that communication with the internet has been established.
LED 3 indicates that communication with the BITZER DIGITAL NETWORK has been established.
