9.2 Descaling
Time intervals for descaling
The intervals for descaling are dependent
on the hardness of the water, and how often
you use the device. Where the hardness of
the water is medium or high, we recommend
descaling monthly.
If using tap water, you can find out the hard-
ness of the water in the area where you live
by inquiring at your local waterworks.
After some time, the boiling process will re-
sult in limescale being deposited in parts of
the coffee machine (depending on the hard-
ness of the water used). You should remove
this at regular intervals, because otherwise
the power consumption of the device will in-
crease.
1. Turn off the coffee machine and allow it
to cool down completely.
2. Pour the descaling agent into the water
tank 14. Use a liquid, environmentally
friendly descaling agent based on citric
acid, and follow the instructions of the
manufacturer.
3. Fill the water tank 14 to the 8 cup
marking.
4. Close the cover 15 of the water
tank 14.
5. It is very important that the pot 8
has a closed lid 12 when it is
placed on the hot plate 9.
