SERVICING AND PRECAUTIONS FOR USE

SERVICING
Except for cleaning the machine outside using products without solvents, the DUCATRON Quattro needs
no particular servicing operation.
However it is recommended that the cooling circuit reservoir water level is checked about every three
months.
To carry out this operation:
- Cut off power to the machine (isolating switch on right to "OFF").
- Take out front lower panel without forgetting to disconnect earth lead.
- Undo band that secures cover assembly.
- Release cover to gain access to reservoir opening.
- Add any needed water so that the water level is about 5 cm below the upper edge.
- Put back the various parts, checking that the cover band is correctly positioned and locked up.
- Re-connect panel earth lead.
- Close up machine (four quarter-turn screws + four plugs).
- Reset mains power.
- The DUCATRON QUATTRO is operational again.
PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
Before any use, we would advise you to check that no object or residue is present in the machine arm.
It is essential that the cradle fits perfectly with the cast cylinder for any operation to be good. It is best to
carry out this check when the machine is cold.
The machine is delivered with four cylinder holder cradles (DEGUSSA Standard) and two others that can be
used with 40mm Ø x 55mm long and 90mm Ø x 70mm long cylinders.
Other types can be used on condition that their dimensions and weights remain compatible with the
accessories of the machine.
To prevent any risk of alloy projection during centrifugation, several points should be checked:
- Distance between cup lip and cylinder should not exceed 6mm maximum.
- The amount of alloy should be adapted to the type of cylinder being used.
- The cylinder should not show any cracks.
- The size of the crucible lip should be compatible.
- The cast cone should be sufficient.
Because of the high temperature of the cylinder whilst it is being handled (on coming out of the oven) it is
strongly recommended that you use a gripper and suitable gloves.
