Design and function
An emergency stop button is a combination of an operating element and a switching ele-
ment with up to five functions. They are executed as a built-in or surface-mounted version
and with a screw connection or M12 connection. The operating element actuates the safety
switching elements.
An emergency stop is executed by pressing the operating element.
The operating elements are unlocked by turning them to the left or right. In the case of
versions unlocked by a key, the key must be inserted into the lock and the element must be
turned with they key.
The switching elements SNH 00xx of the panel mount version are fitted with a so-called
failure switch-off system (optional) in order to maintain the safety in the case of the
switching element falling off the operating element. The self monitoring opens a contact if
the switching element is separated from the operating element and triggers the
EMERGENCY STOP function.

The operating instructions must be made available to the person installing the EMER-
GENCY STOP / EMERGENCY OFF button. Read these instructions carefully and keep them
for future use.

Electrical installations, commissioning and maintenance work must only be performed
by qualified electricians with relevant accident prevention training and in compliance
with the applicable regulations.
