MAINTENANCE
Checkand Replace Spark Plug
Check thespark plugevery twenty-five (25) hours. R eplace thesparkplug
(Figure 30) if theelectrodes arepittedor burned or if theporcelain is
cracked.
1. Remove snowhood(see"Remove theSnowHood"section).
2. Cleansparkplugandresetgapperiodically.
3. Cleanareaaroundsparkplug basebeforeremoval, t o prevent d irt
fromenteringengine.
4. Replace sparkplug if electrodes arepittedor burned or if porcelain is
cracked.
5. Cleansparkplugby carefully scrapingelectrodes ( do notsandblast
or usewirebrush).
6. Besuresparkplugis cleanandfreeof foreignmaterial. C heckelec-
trodesgapwitha wirefeelergauge and resetgapto 0.030"(0.76ram)
if necessary.
7. Beforeinstallingsparkplug,coatthreadslightlywith graphitegrease
to insureeasyremoval.
8. Tighten plug firmlyinto engine.If torquewrenchis available, t ighten
plug to 18-23ft-lbs (24.4-31.2 Nm).

WARNING:Always turn unit off, remove ignitionkey,
and disconnectthe spark plug wire before making any
repairs or adjustments.
ADJUSTSKiD HEIGHT
Thissnowthroweris equipped withtwo heightadjustskids,secured to the
outsideoftheaugerhousing.These elevate thefront ofthesnowthrower.
Whenremoving snowfroma hardsurface areasuchasa paveddriveway
or walk,adjusttheskidsup to bringthefront ofthesnowthrower down.
Whenremoving snowfromrockor uneven construction, r aisethefront of
thesnowthrowerbymovingtheskidsdown.Thiswill helpto prevent
rocksandotherdebrisfrombeingpickedup andthrownbytheaugers.
To adjustskids, proceed as follows:
1. Placea block(equalto heightfromgrounddesired)underscraper bar
nearbutnotunderskid.
2. Loosenskid mounting nuts(A, Figure31)and pushtheskid down
(B) until it touches theground.Retighten mountingnuts.
3. Setskid on othersideatsameheight.
NOTE:Make sure that snow thrower is set at same height on
both sides.
WARNING: Be certain to maintain proper ground
clearance for your particular area to be cleared.
Objects such as gravel, rocks, or other debris, if struck
by the impeller, may be thrown with sufficientforce to
cause personalinjury, propertydamage, or damage to
the snow thrower.
