disappointment

2001 sea-

Honda entrusted
six
of
its
NSR500's
to
four
promising
teams.
Among those teams was Honda Pons,
which
showed
exceptional poten-
tial
in Round

of
the
2001 series,
the
Grand Prix of Japan. Team
ownef
Alfonso Sito Pons, best known riding
the
Honda
NSR250
to victory
in
1988 and 89.

he formed his own team and

his sights

some unfortunate tire
trouble,
he ended
up 8th in that
race,
but
secured
a solid
2nd place finish
in
Round

the
South
Africa
Grand Prix.

1st place and Capirossi
took
2nd, scoring

impressive result for
