HOW TO ADJUST THE CHIPBREAkERS
Disconnect the machine from the power source.
The chipbreakers (A) Fig. 34 are located on top of the planer and extend downward around the front of the cutterhead. The
chipbreakers rise as stock is fed through the planer and "break or curl" the wood chips. Set the bottom of the chipbreakers
parallel to the knives and .040" below the cutting circle.
1. Adjuste the knives properly as explained in section "CHECkINg, REPLACINg AND RE-SETTINg kNIVES."
2. Place the gauge block (B) Fig. 35 on the table surface and directly under the cutterhead. Use a .040" feeler gauge
(C) Fig. 35 placed on top of the gauge block to raise the table until the cutterhead knife (D) touches the feeler gage
when the knife is at its lowest point.
3. Move the gauge block (B) Fig. 36 directly under the chipbreakers (A). The bottom of chipbreakers (A) Fig. 36 should touch
the gauge block (B).

4. To adjust, loosen the two hex nuts (E) Fig. 34, and turn
the adjustment screws (F) until the chipbreakers (A)
Fig. 36 touch the gauge block (B) at both sides of the
table.
HOW TO ADJUST THE PRESSURE BAR
The pressure bar is located directly behind the cutterhead and rides on the planed surface of the stock to press the stock
downward on the table. Set the pressure bar parallel to the knives, tangent to the table, and .010" below the cutting
circle.
Disconnect the machine from the power source.
1. Make certain that the knives are adjusted properly
as explained in the section "HOW TO CHECk,
ADJUST, AND REPLACE kNIVES."
2. Place the gauge block (B) Fig. 37 on the table surface
and directly under the cutterhead. Use a .010" feeler
gauge (C) placed on top of the gauge block to raise the
table until the cutterhead knife (D) Fig. 34 touches the
feeler gauge when the knife is at its lowest point.
