Operation
This leads to a punctual carbonate equili-
brium displacement which entails that the
disposition of water to build lime crystals
increases. To prompt this procedure, the
thus pretreated water is conducted centrally
upwards through the device where it flows
radially inwards between six strong, ring-
shaped permanent magnets (1) and collects
in a ring-shaped channel.
Upon the intersection of the magnetic field
lines that the magnets will produce, an elec-
tric current will be induced via the charge
carriers that are contained in the water (such
as calcium ions), the so-called electro-mag-
netic induction current. This electric current
leads, among others, to a local fortification
of calcium and magnesium ions relevant to
lime-generation and thus to a local over-
saturation of this substances. That is why a
spontaneous precipitation of smallest lime
crystals takes place in the pre-treated water.
Now, similar to a snow ball effect, additional
lime can continue to be deposited on these
microscopically small crystals. The lime
crystals grow, remain, however, due to their
large quantity, about the size of only some
thousandth millimetres, so that they cannot
deposit and, as an example, heater rods
cannot become incrusted any longer. The
used magnets are anisotropic ones (that is
especially strongly magnetized in one direc-
tion) allowed in contact with drinking water
(that means, among others, rust-proof)
ceramic-bound hard ferrit magnets, that
keep their abundantly dimensioned energy
over many years.
