4. Operation

Disinfect contaminated surfaces of the curing light as
well as light probes and anti-glare cones before each
use. Additionally, the light probe can be sterilized using
the autoclaves intended for this purpose. Furthermore,
make sure that the stipulated light intensity permits
adequate polymerization. For that purpose, check the
light probe for contamination and damage as well as
the light intensity at regular intervals.
Selecting the curing program and time
Bluephase Style 20i is equipped with the following
4 selectable curing times and 2 curing programs for the
different indications. Use the time/program selection
button to adjust the desired curing time and hence the
specified light intensity.
HIGH POWER Program, 1,200 mW/cm
By selecting a curing time of 10, 15 or 20 seconds,
the High Power program with a light intensity of
1,200 mW/cm
is automatically used.
2
TURBO Program, 2,000 mW/cm
By selecting a curing time of 5 seconds, the Turbo
program with a light intensity of 2,000 mW/cm
automatically used.

Observe the Instructions for Use of the material applied
when selecting the curing time. The curing recommen-
dations for composite materials apply to all shades and,
if not mentioned otherwise in the Instructions for Use,
to a maximum layer thickness of 2 mm. Generally, these
re commendations apply to situations where the emis-
sion window of the light probe is placed directly over
the material to be polymerized. Increasing the distance
between the light source and the material will require
the curing time to be extended accordingly. For
instance, if the distance to the material is 8 mm, the
effective light output is reduced by approx. 50%. In this
case, the recommended curing time has to be doubled.
1) The information provided herein applies to the
10>8 mm light probe supplied in the delivery form.
2) The information regarding heat development and
burn hazards must be taken into consideration (see
Safety notes)
