5. 5.Antieskoting odjustment
The interaction of the record groove friction force with the
bearing ferce of the tonearm produces on additional compo~
'nent(at the tonearm) which tends to move the tonearm towards
the
centre of the record. It is called skating force. It covses
audible distortions, especially when playing stereo-records
th a very low stylus force. To compensote this effect, an
anti-skating force is epplied to the tonearm. On the Thorens
TP 16 tonearm, the anti-skoting force Is created without any
exditicnal friction by means of a magnetic
field. The mogn=
tude of the necessary anti-thating ferce depends on diffe
rent Focters: on the needle pressure, on the needle shope
(iphericol or elliptical) ond on the kind of groove cleaning
of lubrication during playing, If the record surface Is entirely
covered by a film of water or similar, the necessary anti-
tokes oll these
factors into consideration.
