9.3 Safety instructions on charging

• Never charge batteries immediately after use. Always allow them to cool down for at least 5 – 10 minutes.
• Only charge intact and undamaged batteries. Do not charge batteries if the external insulation or battery housing is
damaged, or if the battery is deformed or swollen. This may cause a fire or explosion!
• Always remove and completely disconnect the drive battery from the model before charging.
• Only use chargers suitable for your battery type.
• Disconnect the battery from the charger when the battery is fully charged.
• Never leave batteries unattended when they are charging.
• The charger and the rechargeable battery must not get damp or wet. This may result in a fatal electric shock or
cause a fire or explosion!
• Never place a rechargeable battery on the charger.
• Never cover the charger and the battery when charging is in progress.
• Do not expose the charger or battery to extremely high/low temperatures or direct sunlight.
• Never use an excessive charging current. Observe the manufacturer's specifications for the ideal/maximum
charging current.
• The charger and battery will heat up during the charging process. Do not cover either during charging.
• Keep a sufficient distance between the charger and the rechargeable battery while charging.

9.4 Maintaining batteries

Good battery maintenance can help extend battery life time. Observe the following principles:
• Regularly discharge and fully charge again the battery in order for it to achieve its full performance.
• Rechargeable batteries (except special batteries with a low self-discharge) lose their charge within a few weeks.
- Charge the battery regularly (approx. once every 2 - 3 months) to prevent it from undergoing deep discharge.
- Deep discharge will render the battery unusable!
